The Old Rugged Cross
We’ve been blessed to be the home of the “Old Rugged Cross” since 1913 when it was originally sung in its completion in our sanctuary. That event was memorialized in August, 1947, when an outdoor cross and garden was dedicated by the local clergy and civic leaders of Sturgeon Bay, recognizing the significance of the original event.
Since then, visitors from around the world regularly stop to enter our church sanctuary and spend time meditating at our outdoor memorial cross garden. Because of the wear and tear on the garden area, and because of our commitment to future generations being blessed by our church and ministries, we are renovating the outdoor memorial. Financial gifts from those who have been blessed by singing, "The Old Rugged Cross" may choose to donate to this undertaking. God bless you!
