We're continuing in Habakkuk. When trouble comes, particularly when the source of the problem seems to be initiated by others, don't be too quick.

Most of us have a preconceived notion as to what life is supposed to look like. When our plans begin to take an unexpected and not so pleasant turn, how we react largely depends on the set of lenses through which we're viewing life. Unbelief is an act of the will, but doubt arises from a broken life, a broken heart. And there is a cure. Life through the lense of Habakkuk.
In Psalm 25 the Lord speaks of those who are willing to allow their will to be bent by Him. That's followed by a direct connection to Him, in turn, coaching and personally instructing them in good judgement, particularly to those who will be placed in positions of authority and have the power to exact good, balanced justice in a society bent on evil. That would be helpful in today's society, bent on destruction.
The time is getting closer. Get ready. Not by what you see or by what people whisper in your ear. That's the way most people's lives are driven. We're still on the subject of the Holy Spirit. Let's listen.
and in a deep valley, you will be. Are you doing everything right now to deepen the reservoir of truth in your life so you have the equipment to get out the other side of trouble?
We have a tremendous responsibility for which we will be held accountable when we stand before the Living God. But don't fear, the Lord Himself will help us make our way. First let's consider just Who He Is.
That seems a funny/odd way to put it, God having nicknames. But think about it, many of us have nicknames. Last week we mentioned that our names in modern culture are basically just identification labels that distinguish us from the next person on our left or right. But when you get a nickname, it's typically something that those who really know us have tagged onto us that say something of who we are to them. It could be something about our character, our looks, our personality. Whatever it is, we received it from those who know and love us. At least that's what we're looking and longing for. (Never end a sentence with a preposition!)
Let's start with the first and most basic nickname of God for this session. Elohim. When things go south in a person's life, it's always a real gift to have friends who are there to stand beside you, friends with whom you've built a great relationship over time. Spending time in conversation, getting to know them and they you; experiencing circumstances of all kinds with them. That's the stuff of which great relationships are built, one-on-one. You're not doing it so you've got someone you can depend on when trouble lands at your front door, but it is wonderful to know they're there. So, let's talk about conversation with your Invisible Friend.
For those of us who have lived long enough, most have had some event occur which toppled the expected routine of life as we knew it. We had to completely readjust to a new normal. There is never a reason for hopelessness in our lives.
STOP TRYING TO CLEAN YOURSELF UP! We now take a look at the prodigal son's father and what his attitude is toward his son.
