I know people bear under a lot of pressure, but without understanding that the Lord truly exists and cares very deeply for you, managing life can become more than overwhelming. When things are so difficult that it's becoming hard to see past today, He carries the load until you're able to shoulder the rest. Let's listen.

We're continuing in the 2nd chapter of Habakkuk. Don't ever allow the evil one to bring you to discouragement with life.
We're continuing in Habakkuk and doing some honest self assessment this week.
We're continuing in Habakkuk. When trouble comes, particularly when the source of the problem seems to be initiated by others, don't be too quick.
Most of us have a preconceived notion as to what life is supposed to look like. When our plans begin to take an unexpected and not so pleasant turn, how we react largely depends on the set of lenses through which we're viewing life. Unbelief is an act of the will, but doubt arises from a broken life, a broken heart. And there is a cure. Life through the lense of Habakkuk.
"Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz, my friends all drive Porsches I must make amends..." Janis Joplin's mockery of prayer was well deserved and, for the most part these days, still has some merit. Praying for your sleeping partner to "come to the Lord" probably isn't going to work out real well either. Using the power of prayer to bless your sinful lifestyle has never proven to get results.
While Joplin was tongue in cheek, the second example isn't. Does God answer prayer; absolutely. Does He honor willful ignorance of His way of living life while honoring our requests at the same time. Don't think so. We've got to get serious with Him if we want Him to get serious with us. |
