Just In Time Inventory And Sheep

10/30/2022

Life has way too many burdens to handle. Today, Dr. Wayne Johnson gives us a fresh look at Psalm 23 and how God lifts the load that we attempt to carry on our own.  There's so much more, but take the time to listen.  This is a good one.

We All Need A Little Alliteration

9/18/2022

A very close friend crossed the veil recently and we had the opportunity to be blessed by his life and pastoral care.  He was also a master at incorporating alliteration into every sermon. Today Pastor Nancy discusses "perfect peace and patience".

NO NO NO... Rope That Steer

We're in our fifth week of 1st Corinthians Chapter 13 and you'd think we'd be done.  But no, hang on.  Today Pastor Nancy peels back the onion a little more.  How do we keep from damaging relationships and begin repairing those that have some rebuilding to be done. That's a biggie.  Beginning with restraint is a good start.

Life Is Messy, But...

8/1/2021

So much of life is made of circumstances that drive us to make choices.  The challenge is making the right ones, "right" being those that drive us closer and closer to Jesus.  He is the one who conforms us to being more like Him.  That's the goal, isn't it.  Let's listen, as our guest Gerry Wilson, now retired and back from California. who also served as our pastor at Friends Church 30 years ago, shares from Paul's letters just how we might fight the battle... and win.

When Everything's Gone, Then What?

6/7/2020

Covid sure has turned the world upside down for many. Life is good when everything seems pretty secure and predictable. But, we live in a different age now, and maybe the future doesn't seem quite as predictable anymore. Maybe you didn't experience as much trauma as others these past few months, but should another shoe drop and it does touch your life, and in a big way, what then?

Praying for Toilet Rolls

3/15/2020

With the very real concern everyone has regarding the Corona virus, the reaction, e.g. the incredible run on toilet rolls leaving empty shelves, is indicative of mass reactions which can oftentimes lead to very unpleasant results.  And what should our response be.  Certainly to be responsible in our courtesy and care for others, but also not to be overtaken by fear and undue concern.  The world doesn't get it, but our Living God has absolute control over what occurs in and on His planet.  And nothing is going to go any further than He Who wills it. Period.

We need to get a grip on that reality and to understand our need to turn our attention to Him, and in prayer, and in every and all circumstances.  Listen up to our message regarding the next beatitude, peacemakers.

Only Tamed Horses Can Win Races

I think most of us, when we hear the word meekness we think of weakness.  Aside from rhyming, we tend to misapply that word in general conversation. We are still working through the Beatitudes in Matthew chapter 5, the lead in to the sermon on the mount.  Today Nancy unpacks the actual meaning of meek, revealing the nature of a wild horse tamed.

News You Can Use When Life Seems Crushing

6/9/2019

Sometimes even the leadership of a church finds itself in difficult circumstances.  In this case it's cancer, and also in this case, it's Nancy.  I must say, I was in shock, really not knowing how to react; rather numb.  But we are adjusting, and I know it sounds trite that our comfort is in running as fast as we can to the Lord, but it's true.  That's not some self imposed salve. It's real. He's real. We thank Jesus, Yeshua, the Lord of the universe, that He has control.  And also that His history has been written and preserved for us to glean and find both comfort and direction in these times of stress.  Let's listen.

Desperation Is A Good Place To Be...

4/7/2019

Although none of us ever want to be in that place in life, some of us have sometimes been there.  Never give in.  Never give up.  The blind man that called out to Jesus as He passed by, pressed by the crowd; that's who we want to be when in those difficult times.
